WHEREAS, CONSUMERS FOR CIVIL JUSTICE is celebrating its Tenth Anniversary on this day, October 21, 2003; and

 

WHEREAS, CONSUMERS FOR CIVIL JUSTICE  unites the voices of labor, civil rights, victims' rights, public health, environmental, and other citizen organizations in an effort to protect New Jersey consumers; and

 

WHEREAS, CONSUMERS FOR CIVIL JUSTICE faithfully promotes fair and equal access to government, and especially to the civil justice system, for New Jersey consumers; and

 

WHEREAS, CONSUMERS FOR CIVIL JUSTICE is recognized for its faithful and diligent advocacy on behalf of consumer and victims' rights;

 

THEREFORE in presenting this proclamation to:

WHEREAS, CONSUMERS FOR CIVIL JUSTICE was established in 1993 to respond to efforts to weaken New Jersey’s tort liability laws; and

WHEREAS, CONSUMERS FOR CIVIL JUSTICE is committed to preserving and promoting fair and equal access to the civil justice system and government for New Jersey consumers; and

WHEREAS, CONSUMERS FOR CIVIL JUSTICE is a vocal advocate in the struggle for consumer protection from the effects of dangerous products, environmental hazards, drunk drivers, medical malpractice, and insurance proposals that are detrimental to consumers; and

WHEREAS, CONSUMERS FOR CIVIL JUSTICE is recognized as being at the forefront of fighting for consumer and victim rights while continuing to keep in focus the fact that they are working to make the lives of New Jersey’s consumers easier and more comfortable; and

WHEREAS, CONSUMERS FOR CIVIL JUSTICE is commended, congratulated and thanked for all of their tireless advocacy and wished the best of luck and immense success in all they wish to accomplish in the future.

Assemblywoman Weinberg and Assemblyman Corodemus

 

WHEREAS, The General Assembly of the State of New Jersey is pleased to join with Consumers for Civil Justice Inc., an esteemed coalition dedicated to promoting and protecting the interests of New Jersey’s consumers, in celebrating the Tenth Anniversary of this organization during an Awards Banquet at the Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township on October 21, 2003; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1993, Consumers for Civil Justice is a coalition of citizen, labor, civil rights, victims rights, environmental, and public health organizations that advocates for New Jersey consumers through fair and equal access to the civil justice system and government; and

WHEREAS, The tireless efforts of the members of Consumers for Civil Justice have resulted in the substantive amending of a series of ‘tort reform’ bills in benefit of New Jersey consumers; and

WHEREAS, Consumers for Civil Justice remains committed to protecting consumers from the harmful effects of dangerous products, environmental hazards, drunk and negligent drivers, medical malpractice and various insurance proposals that deny victims their just remedies; and

WHEREAS, Consumers for Civil Justice will work with its supporters to advance the interests of consumers and workers through grassroots advocacy, public education, the dissemination of accurate and timely information through the mass media, and participation in the legislative, executive, regulatory, and legal process; now, therefore,

          Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

          That this House hereby honors and congratulates Consumers for Civil Justice, pays tribute to its meritorious record of consumer advocacy in New Jersey for a decade, and extends best wishes for its continued success and vigor; and,

          Be It Further Resolved, That a duly authenticated copy of this resolution, signed by the Speaker and attested by the Clerk, be transmitted to Consumers for Civil Justice Inc.
